GAIAN MIND SUMMER FESTIVAL 2007 - HUMAN BLUE Interview
Interview with HUMAN BLUE (aka Dag Wallin) by Ari D of GOAHEAD PRODUCTIONS.
1. So where are you right now and what's happening? At the mo, I'm having breakfast in my one room flat in Gothenburg, Sweden. Musicwise, I'm just before another albumrelease! 2. Many people I talk to are anxiously awaiting the release of your next album… would you please share any details you can about it? Well... it's coming ;) A little bit darker... and it will probably be released by the end of the summer!
3. Seems like it's become a bit more difficult in the last couple of years to catch your live PAs anywhere really. Can you share why? I think it has to do with the competition and the fact that trance music split up in quite a few different genres. 4. I understand you started playing some serious piano music already as a kid. So I guess you felt early on in life that being a music artist/performer was your calling? I guess so. I remember me and a friend in highschool, being 14 yrs old and we performed with our synthesizers and drummachines. The music was probably not that good but we enjoyed ourselves and the crowd. I think I've always had a little performer inside of me, specially considering my work as a teacher! 5. What kinds of equipment/live elements do you use on stage, in addition to the laptop? Have you ever seen a painter (in a gallery) re-painting his art!? That's what I always ask people back when they ask me this. I have my trix but they're private... one obvious thing as an artist is to share your personal energy with the crowd.
6. How do you do it so you're all energetic and ready to play a righteous set early in the morning? Beleive me when I say I'm not always that prepared but I guess that's one thing that differs a true artist from a fake, being able to switch on/off. It doesn't matter how tired or bored I am, I'm still always prepared to switch over to "Humanblue mode"... 7. In the view of a veteran trance artist, is the psytrance movement of today what you expected it to become? Generally it's hard to define the scene. What you have in the states is probably not what they have in Spain or Japan for example.
8. What are your memories of your first Gaian Mind appearance and expectations of this summer's trip to the US? I remember being well taken care of with accomodation, food, friends etc. When going to different countries I try not to expect anything since I've learned that it can be very different. However, I'm looking forward to meet Allen again since he's allways been a nice dude ;)
9. What does the future hold for Dag of Human Blue? Musicwise - I'm slowly starting to plan my 7th album and I think it's time for me to produce an album with other artists. I've made lots of connections over the years and I could probably compile something interesting if I produced trax with other people in the scene. This is also a challenge for me since I've allways worked on my own! HUMAN BLUE will be performing live at GAIAN MIND SUMMER FESTIVAL 2007. |
